Find My Local is a creator directory making it easy for shoppers to purchase from local creators, making it easy to support your local economy.  

Find My Local was created in level 4 lockdown to address issues that arose in community and business because of COVID-19. 

The idea was created by a larger team of volunteers at HackTheCrisisNZ, an online hackthon 17-19 April 2020. The Find My Local platform would not have been possible without the expert and generous assistance of it’s original founders and has now been rebranded and taken a different direct with one of the original founders. 

After developing many digital platforms in the areas of Mãori, Pacifika, Aboriginal Canadian, and Regional New Zealand Small businesses, as well as Music, Food Tourism and Fashion, Find My Local was revamped to address the common challenge faced in all of these platforms which was making connection to local online and offline creators as easy as clicking a button.

With the global creator economy reaching over $100 billion dollars and New Zealand creatives in hot demand 2024 is the perfect time to revamp Find My Local.

A big problem with a simple solution. 


If you can’t find a particular creator it will be because it is not listed yet. The best way to make sure Find My Local helps your community, is to tell creators in your area, and through your social media, to create a listing. Or if you don’t know how to contact them, send us their details via our “Contact Us” page or our social media channels and we will get in touch with them.

In order to make Find My Local as accurate as possible only creators, business owners or our team can complete and update listings. The Find My Local directory was only re-launched in February 2024 so please share our details with as many businesses and creators in your community and encourage them to create a listing.

If you’re a customer, give Find My Local a whirl! Help spread the word by telling friends and family, as well as sharing your favourite creators on your social media pages. Encourage your favourite local creators to sign up. The more we have the better it is for everyone!

It identifies creators nearby showing:

  • Online and offline creators
  • Opening hours
  • Links to all their social media channels, website, marketplaces and stock libraries.
  • Find My Local is mobile responsive using Google Maps to display selected categories of creators that are nearby.
  • Creators professional profile comes fully equiped with many communication tools.
  • As an impact enterprise stage 2 of Find My Local will offer our creators a stock library to host their images, videos and audio content which is in demand.
  • Our “Sustainable” category makes supporting sustainable creators super easy and by simply searching this category when you make purchases you will be making a positive impact on our environment.

Whether you’re a creator, business owner or shopper, through Find My Local, you will help support local businesses and the local economy. It’s an opportunity to be connected to customers, your community and to shop locally.

Yes, Find My Local is for brick and mortar stores as well as cottage industry or creators that sell their products and services from home or online.

No, just take a few minutes to fill in the form and upload some images and video once and that’s it. The only time you need to go in and change anything is when you are updating any changes in your communication, updating images or creating an event or special offer. You will receive a notification when someone interacts with your listing.

The dashboard collects analytics and comes with features like discounts, video, lead forms and more.  

Click “Create a Listing” button on our home page, it only takes a few minutes to fill in the form and we will do the rest. Once it’s been checked and approved you will be live. You will receive an email to confirm so you have details for future updates and that’s it.

You can update your listing details by signing in on the home page with the login sent to you when the listing was created. And if you have any problems, just get in touch on the “Contact Us” page and we can help sort it out.
