ABOUT US

Born in a humble backyard shed, The Cave is the brainchild of Matt Rencher, a man who desired an escape from his intense work life and a more exhilarating way to connect with friends and family. His vision for a “man-cave” began to expand in his personal space, where racing simulators and virtual reality became the main source of leisure, connection, and exploration.

The immersive environment Matt created started to attract the attention within his community, sparking the interest of Jayden Brown. A tech enthusiast himself, Jayden saw the immense potential in Matt’s project and decided to join forces. Together, they transformed the idea of a ‘man-cave’ into a ‘man-cave on steroids,’ a tech-entertainment space that transcends genders and age groups.

In 2018, fueled by a shared passion for sharing exciting experiences with others, Matt and Jayden launched their first public VR & Simulator studio in Tauranga within a local trampoline park. The overwhelming positive public response drove them to expand their venture. A year later, in 2019, they unveiled a custom-made studio in Papamoa, equipped with the latest VR technology, including advanced racing simulators.

2021 brought a significant milestone for The Cave. The developers of The Landing in Taupo recognized their innovative VR concept and offered them a chance to open another location. This expansion solidified The Cave’s status as a leading provider of unique, immersive VR experiences in New Zealand.

In 2022, Palmerston North welcomed ‘The Cave Palmy,’ the first-ever franchise of The Cave. This marked an exciting progression in bringing our revolutionary entertainment platform, complete with pulse-pounding racing simulators, to more communities across the country.

Today, The Cave continues to push the boundaries of entertainment, offering spaces where the thrill of racing simulators and the magic of VR combine to blur the line between the virtual and real worlds. Our mission is to provide immersive, enriching, and thrilling experiences to everyone, one community at a time.
