Tarawera Trail Drop Off – Walk starts at Hot Water Beach.
Park your vehicle at Tarawera Trail Car Park. Our van shuttle will pick you up and transfer you to water taxi departure point.
Your Tarawera Trail walk will start a Hot Water Beach. Walk finishes at The Tarawera Trail Car Park.
Health & Safety
The Tarawera Trail has limited Mobile coverage. Higher points of the trail and closer to the Lake edge may enable you to txt or call if necessary.
Tarawera Trail – (Hot Water Beach starting point) starts with our FREE Van Shuttle pickup from Tarawera Trail Car Park https://goo.gl/maps/q7WzLA8CTZb9Fa8T8
The Van Shuttle will depart the Tarawera Trail Car Park 15 minutes prior to your water taxi service
Boat ride is approx 25 minutes.

BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL – if we have no bookings the Water Taxi does not operate.
The Trail is 15km approximately and takes reasonable walkers 4-5hrs to walk.
The water taxi departs from Kariri Point Reserve/Boat Shed Bay at 9:00am, 12:00pm & 3pm.
If you are a large group, over 5 persons, your driver must drop passengers at the Kariri Point Reserve water taxi departure point and return your vehicle to the Tarawera Trail Carpark. The Van Shuttle will bring your driver to water taxi departure point.
What to Bring
- Good walking shoes (Tramping boots not required)
- Drinking water
- Lunch if you’d like to eat at one of our picnic benches!
- Camera
- Take your swimming costume and a towel in the summer for a swim in the cool lake or soak in the warm water at the edge of the lake.
- Sunscreen
Travel is in an all-weather boat.
