Parallel Layers

A collective of Communities from all walks of life connecting through creativity and support. Providing each other with inspiration from our passions. Sharing and collaborating on our differences.

Kia ora, I’m Tenaya, the founder of Parallel Layers.

I’ve always been drawn to the spaces where creativity, community, and human connection intersect. Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how art can do more than create something beautiful — it can bring people together, start conversations, build confidence, and strengthen a sense of belonging.

That’s why I created Parallel Layers.

My passion lies in creating opportunities for people to connect through shared creative experiences. Whether it’s a community art project, collaborative installation, workshop, event activation, or creative engagement initiative, I love bringing people together around a common purpose and watching something meaningful emerge.

One of the most rewarding parts of my work is seeing people who may never have met before contribute to the same project. A single artwork can hold hundreds of stories, perspectives, and experiences, becoming a reflection of the community itself. Those moments remind me that creativity isn’t reserved for artists — it’s something that lives within all of us.

Through Parallel Layers, I work alongside communities, schools, organisations, businesses, and local groups to design creative experiences that inspire participation, connection, and pride in place. My goal is to create projects that leave a lasting impact long after the paint has dried or the event has finished.

I believe every person has something valuable to contribute, and every community has stories worth celebrating. By creating spaces where people can express themselves, collaborate, and be part of something bigger than themselves, we strengthen the social fabric that helps communities thrive.

At its heart, Parallel Layers is about people.

It’s about creating moments where strangers become neighbours, ideas become opportunities, and creativity becomes a catalyst for connection.

If you’re looking for a creative partner who is passionate about community, collaboration, and meaningful impact, I’d love to help bring your vision to life.

Together, let’s create something that people will remember.
