The Outer Gulf Explorer is a unique chance to explore the remote outer islands of the Hauraki Gulf, including either Little Barrier or the Mokohinau Islands.

‘Truly stunning’ only begins to describe these remarkable places and visiting them is a privilege and treat indeed – bring your camera! Shear cliffs, rugged coasts, intriguing caves and a natural stunning beauty that is unique to this part of the world.

The islands are also home to a vast range of marine life and seabirds – with regular sightings of dolphins and whales among the action (sightings likely but not guaranteed as this is mother nature…).

Choose to stay on the boat and soak it all in, or jump in the water for a snorkel, swim or paddle-board. Get your group together and book in a trip to this very special place that many people living in Auckland don’t realise exists in their backyard!

Little Barrier explorer trips depart from Westhaven in Auckland City and are available to groups of up to 6 people.

Mokohinau Islands explorer trips depart from Omaha (North of Auckland) and are available to groups of up to 4 people.

What to Bring

• Sunglasses, sunscreen, a warm jacket and a hat – the weather can change quickly at sea so come prepared;
• Lunch and a drink (if you have not booked a catered Charter) (NO alcohol is allowed on board;
• Rod and tackle (if you have not booked rental gear or an all inclusive Charter); and
• Your sense of adventure and a smile!
