This trip starts at Ohinepane which is a short 20 minute drive down river from our Taumarunui base. This means you skip several of the early big rapids, but not all the amazing scenery, and is absolutely Karen’s favourite day.

You can choose to stay at Posh Pioneers who are located at Maharanui, they have an amazing set up there, with Dinner Bed and Breakfast. You sleep in old fashioned carriages. (Please ask me if you want this).

Along the 4 days, you will travel through farmland, fantastic rock formations, abounding waterfalls, and you are in the Whanganui National Park which you stay in until you come off the river at Pipiriki. Enjoy the waterfalls, the many bird species, and the iconic Bridge to Nowhere walk.

• We can bring your backpacks and suitcases to the pickup point if you want to get out at Pipiriki, Raetihi, or National Park
• Free Drop off at Raetihi (Intercity Bus) National Park or Taumarunui

Our prices do not include the following:

• Department of Conservation Campsites/Huts;
• Private accommodation (e.g. Posh Pioneers, Whakahoro, Bridge to Nowhere
Campsite/Hut or Lodge);
• Camping gear (can be hired from us);
