Follow the river from the Port end of town right up through the heart of Nelson, stopping for a coffee at our friends at the River Kitchen Cafe along the way, and returning back the way you came.

Paddling under bridges and turning the heads of locals and visitors strolling along the scenic Maitai River walkway, this trip is perfect for those who really want a cruisy little trip on a sheltered, easy to access waterway without waves, minutes from the CBD.

The Maitai River Paddle is an escorted trip, meaning that a Team Moana member will be within proximity to you on the water. This is not a guided trip and you will be given all the freedom you want to explore at your own pace.

This is a great trip for kids and small groups, as it is very sheltered and less affected by the sea breeze that we commonly have at the beach.

Top Tip: For the summer months, the wind tends to pick up throughout the day, so come earlier in the day for best conditions! If the wind is too strong to be safe on the ocean, we will contact you in advance to move your booking.

We ask that you are comfortable in the water before hiring from us, and all equipment that you need for a great time is provided. Please arrive 10 minutes early to kit up, sign in and be briefed.
